Quality Manager

Department: Operations Support
Location: Peabody, MA
Subsidiary: APS Adhesive Packaging Specialties, A Subsidiary of Royal

Develop, implement and manage AS9100 quality control systems designed to ensure continuous production of aerospace sealants, adhesives and supporting materials and applications consistent with industry standards, customer (OEM) specifications and Royal production goals.

Quality Manager is expected to plan and coordinate activities of QC lab, provide scheduling guidance to QC technician(s); assume full responsibility for completion of QC tests and generating test reports. This position supports both Peabody, MA and Ball Ground, GA facilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Technical contribution: 

  •  Formulate, document and maintain quality control standards and on-going quality control objectives.
  •  Create, document and implement inspection criteria and procedures.
  •  Maintain active role on internal continuous improvement teams.
  •  Apply total quality management (TQM) tools and approaches to analytical and reporting processes.
  •  Maintain and improve product quality by completing product, company, system, compliance and surveillance audits.
  •  Provide, and oversee, inspection activity for product throughout production cycle by measuring production, documenting evidence, determining operational and performance qualification, as well as writing and updating quality assurance procedures
  •  Investigate (and correct) customer issues and complaints relating to quality.
  •  Develop and analyze statistical data and product specifications to establish quality and reliability expectancy of finished products.
  •  Provide statistical expertise to operations and technical teams.
  •  Collaborate with other members of management to develop new product and engineering designs, and manufacturing and training methods.
  •  Validate quality processes by establishing product specifications and quality attributes.
  •  Interface with other departments to provide assistance, resolve problems and monitor work affecting quality.
  •  Perform calibration of testing equipment accurately and on schedule

Leadership & Communication: 

  •  Coordinate objectives with production procedures in cooperation with other managers to maximize product reliability and minimize costs.
  •  Effectively communicate QC results and Quality Management processes across functions.
  •  Interpret quality control philosophy to key personnel within company.
  •  Design, develop and implement quality control training programs.
  •  Lead QC lab personnel engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure high productivity and high technical integrity.
  •  Must abide by Royal EH&S and business conduct policies/procedures.

REQUIREMENTS:

  •  Strong knowledge of AS9100, NADCAP, and ISO required
  •  Experience in the Aerospace coating, adhesives/sealants or composite industry preferred
  •  TQM, Lean or Six Sigma Certification preferred
  •  Minimum of B.S. in chemistry or engineering with 5-8 years of relevant experience
  •  Strong organizational skills
  •  Problem solving/Analytical with focus on customer needs
  •  Collaborative Leadership and prioritization skills
  •  Effective written and verbal communication skills with internal & external customers
  •  Independent project & time management
  •  ITAR/EAR
  •  Knowledge and hands on experience of computer applications including Microsoft Office and databases is required
